She came down to be his Russian scarf,
While he became.
She would also be his Swiss skin-pants,
While he got tanned.
In the summer, in the summer sun,
They were living like they'd never begun.
That's their love-moon in the tide!
That is their soon-broom on its ride. She would also have his English sock
To clean and dry,
And his pair of painted goat-skin-gloves
From Austria.
In her dancing, in her ball-room-robe
In his gala, in his grandiose suit,
They went in and out the towns
Always lovely's spledidisities on down.Darkened clouds
On the break-fast bill-boards
A world out-side
Grabbing daily-life's snorts
He went off to the war.
He went off to the war!And I'm here to kill you my friend,
And your brother his life I will end; -
Fear no more, it's only war!Who forgot while the youngsters kept young?
Where did they sleep off from daily-life-lounge?
They went off to the war.
They went off to the war!`If I stay what shan't stay'll be cruel!'
This they'd say, soon the cannons boom-boomed
Fear no more, it's only war!She went see him on the lazaret
In darkened dress,
With his broken bones from Africa
Reminding former days in distress.
She'd remember when he was so strong
In his manhood she would find the days past not so long.
This she'd say to his bandage,
`Before we dreamt it, now we'll soon damn the ménage!'And the war got off they soon began
A normal life.
She would iron his Italian shirts
Like a normal wife.
Where's the days now
When we forgot, got on so young?
There's no pay now
The rest will live so long!
That's their love-moon in the tide.
That's their soon-broom sweeping on its ride.
